About Us

The Arabic Culture Center ACC, is a non governmental organization which was found in April 2005 in Riga, Latvia.
The main goals of Arabic Culture Center are:

  1. To encourage the social integration of Arabs in Latvia and the European union,
  2. To strengthen the cultural and social ties between the Arabic world and Latvia,
  3. In reaching the above goals we have established a mechanism based on offering educational lectures providing information on the Arabic culture, which is by the way a multiethnic multi religious one, we also encourage social meetings and organizing Arabic language classes for those interested.

The idea of the Arabic Culture Center (ACC) was established after the tragic and horrible events of 11 of September 2001, when we started realizing the increasing of a sort of phobia against Arabs and the stereotyping of Arabs as being a threat to peace and the civil world all over Europe and Latvia included.
The ACC as mentioned earlier has many different types of activities, including cultural events and informative and educational lectures, for example it is worth mentioning in this regard the latest tour of seminars which included five major cities in Latvia, Daugavpils, Rezekne, Valmiera, Jelgava and Ventspils, under the name of peace and love( truth and reality of the Arabic world), this project was sponsored by the European Union under LEDII project against discrimination, the aim was to reach out to as many persons as possible constituting the Latvian society in an attempt to change the one sided view about the Arabs and Islam which people usually receive from the media by painting a more realistic and vivid picture of the Arabic world, the unique richness of its tradition, culture and religions.
In this website we have provided our visitors/readers with a lot of useful information about the Arabs and Arabic world, information about Arabs in Latvia, as well as information about ACC in Riga and its activities.
Please don’t hesitate to contact us for any kind of information concerning Arabs and the Arabic world.
